In a young season, these two division rivals have already met twice with differing results. In their first battle the Bruins jumped out to an early lead and forward Milan Lucic made headlines by putting Maple Leaf Mike Van Ryn through a pane of glass. But none the less, the Leafs came out running in the second and third period and gave the Bruins their third straight loss. The second game was a different story though which saw rookie forward Blake Wheeler score his first career hat-trick leading the B's past the Leafs in impressive fashion. Now after splitting the first two games, the B's look to head into Toronto tonight for the first time this season and take down the Leafs in front of a home crowd at the Air Canada Centre.
Before tonight the Bruins were considered the hottest team in the Eastern Conference going into Saturdays game versus the NY Rangers. The Rangers though snapped a five game win streak after scoring two late goals and finished off the B's in a shootout. Now the Bruins will be looking to start a new winning streak tonight.
GAME QUICK HITS:
- The Maple Leafs will be starting Vesa Toskala in net tonight even though being pulled from his last start against Vancouver.
- The Bruins look to be sticking with Tim Thomas between the pipes.
- Tonight will be Claude Julien's 100th game as the head coach of the Boston Bruins (51-32-16).
- This will be the third meeting between these two teams this year. So far both teams have come out of the first two match ups with a win but the Bruins have outscored the Leafs 8 to 6.
- Tonight's game will air Nationally on Versus instead of NESN. This means no Jack Edwards which means no fun while watching tonight's game, all business.
- UpsetFan.com is the home of the depressed (but faithful) Maple Leafs fan's. What says loyalty and support like wearing a bag on your head at games?
