Well it looks like Glen Murray is back. No, he's not back with the Bruins or any team at that. Murray has returned for the rest of his money. Back in July the Bruins bought out the last year of Murray's contract which allowed the team to only have to pay him two-thirds of his remaining salary over the next two seasons. This would have saved the Bruins about $1.4-million and give them more space to work with this season. Now, I guess three plus months later Muzz found an issue with this. Murray is now contesting his buyout saying that he has had a lingering ankle injury from last season which needs surgery and is why he is currently sidelined for this season (and possibly for his career).
Honestly, this seems like some petty stuff here. True, Murray was injuried last year and looked like he was playing on his last leg. Also, he was upset after the buyout and it was sad to see a longtime Bruin go. But he did have all summer to look for a new team, in which he used. And as rumors spread, word is that during that time Murray was telling interested teams that he was ready to play. If this is the case then Murray has no argument. If after being released by the Bruins, Murray was going around telling teams he was healthy then the injury was a non-factor during the buyout process making his appeal fraudulent. Hopefully though this can be fixed as soon as possible and save Murray the last amount of respect this fan has for him. Don't become the "Grinch That Stole the 2009 Season".
