According to the Bruins website Phil Kessel has come down with a case of the kissing disease (aka mononucleosis or most commonly known as "mono"). Mono usually last for about 2-4 weeks but could last longer depending on the severity of the symptoms. Due to the lack of coverage on this though, I don't think it is too severe and that the main reason Kess was placed on the IR is because when you have mono your spleen enlarges and it could possibly rupture. This chance is increased greatly in contact sports so in return.. IR. So looks like that's just one more Bruin down for the count, adding more fuel to the trade rumor fires. More news on this when it comes in.
