GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- Boston has no late heroics this time around, get dropped 4-1 on their home ice.
- Tuukka Rask made 17-saves on 20-shots before the Islanders hammered the final nail in the coffin late in the third with the net empty. Rask looking okay tonight but didn't seem to have good to any communication with his teammates on the ice at all. Rask even made a very similar mistake to Thomas' game deciding blunder against the Penguins when he coughed the puck up to the Islanders resulting in a goal.
- Rask wasn't the only Bruin to giveaway the puck though, as the Bruins defensemen were playing hot potato with the biscuit around their own net all night. Dennis Wideman was the worst offender loosing the puck numerous times either directly in front or beside the B;s net, resulting in two of the Islanders goals. At times he was literally just standing in front of Rask and watching the play go on around him. Wideman... you have been put "on watch".
- Boston out-shot the Islanders 29-to-21 but still gets outscored (again), not putting the puck in the net looks to be as addictive and habit forming as nicotine for the Bruins.
- Boston went 0-for-4 on the man advantage while keeping their penalty kill streak alive killing off all five of the Islanders PP chances.
- Daniel Paille scored the lone Bruins goal early in the 2nd period to tie the game at 1-1. David Krejci had the lone assist on the play.
- The only real Bruins highlight of the game was a one-sided fight involving Shawn Thornton and the Islanders Tim Jackman, in which Thornton unleashed the fury (even this wasn't really that great but I'm trying here).
- Boston returns to action Thursday in Atlanta against the Thrashers.
(David Ortiz: the newest Boston Bruin. Maybe the only time I smiled during tonight's game.)
