GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- Boston dropped their 10th straight game after once again blowing a two-goal lead.
- First and foremost let me apologize for no game preview yesterday and how late this recap is coming out. Had sort of a power outage here at Hub headquarters and just got the place back on-line today.
- Boston is slowly creeping towards going over a month without a win. Boston has currently dropped ten game in a row right now and are riding the teams longest losing streak since the 1924-1925 season.
- The Bruins out-shot the Canucks 43-to-31, proving once again that my theory about how the Bruins only win games when they are out-shot. Boston was out-hit 25-to-20, as the game seemed to lack intensity following the third period.
- Tuukka Rask made 29-saves in the game and only allowed two goals after 65-minutes of hockey. The sad thing with the Bruins goaltenders is that the fans have turned on them (mainly Thomas) but both Tuukka and Timmy have actually been playing great as of late. Fans can't keep blaming the goaltenders just because they are the easiest targets. Tuukka deserved the win tonight but the team in front of him let him down yet again.
- The Bruins were great on special teams play yesterday killing off all five of the Canucks powerplay chances while capitalizing on two of the six opportunities they had.
- Zdeno Chara scored his 5th goal of the season on the man-advantage thanks to some nice passing by Marc Savard (two assists in the game) and Marco Sturm.
- In the same period, Michael Ryder ended his goalless drought, which goes all the way back to January 21st, giving the Bruins a 2-0 lead heading in the second-period.
- Immediately following the Bruins first goal Shawn Thornton dropped the gloves with the Canucks Darcy Hordichuk, trying to spark some emotion from his team and the home crowd. This is something this team has been missing in my opinion.
- Johnny Boychuk left the game in the first period after catching a Mikael Sammuelsson slapshot right above his left eye. Boychuk has been ruled out of todays game in Montreal and no real word has been released as of now on this status.
- This was the Bruins last home game before the Olympic break, Boston will be heading to Montreal today to play a 3:00PM game on Super Bowl Sunday.
