According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, Peter Chiarelli is currently shopping Vezina award winner and Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas to teams around the league. Thomas recently signed a four-year $20-million contract during the off-season which includes a "no-trade" clause. Many people questioned this move the second it happened since the Bruins were already tight up against the cap post 2010 so any signing this significant would throw up immediate flags.
Thomas finished last season with a 36-11-7 record only to have a drastic drop off this year batting well below .500 (13-15-7) in his 35 starts. However Thomas still has a respectable save-percentage and goals-against average this season which begs the question if his record reflects his performance or the team in front of him. Rumored to be interested in Timmy are the Blues, Blue Jackets, Blackhawks and Stars.
Not helping Timmy's situation was Tuukka's jaw dropping shutout performance against the Habs today snapping a ten game losing streak and stopping history in the making. Or ESPN's own John Buccigross' comments about Thomas in an interview with Jesse Connolly of HockeyBuzz.com were he stated "he [Thomas] looks like a leader but I’ve been told he’s not well received in the Bruins locker room". I am against trading Thomas but his future in Black & Gold isn't looking good right now.
